The Art of Flanking

         Like I said in my last post, I will tell you about the art of flanking. First thing first, this post is about how to flank the enemy with melee hero or infantry, you can flank enemy with cavalry too, but I'll talk about it in different post. 😁✌

        So, this game have unique mechanic, you always deals more damage if you attack the enemy from the side or even from the damage, and if you use Hanzo, he can deals even more damage to enemy because of his passive (Ghost Hanzo). But Hanzo only good at low tier, since you can counter Hanzo easily by keep watching your back, Hanzo lose in 1 vs 1 situation to almost any other DPS hero, like Yu Ji or Godfrey. The most importantthing if you meet someone who want to flank, simply use F2 and scroll your mouse wheel to change your unit formation facing the enemy who want to flank you. And because Hanzo is sux, the best flanker right now is Yu Ji, and Diao Chan for 2nd. Yu Ji is nightmare for your enemy, her passive make her very strong against dying enemy (Elite Assassin), and you have a debuff skill which is reducing your enemy defense by using your Q. You can also use your Q 3 times instantly, because your 3rd skill give you free Q twice. But again, Yu Ji is hard to master, it's like high risk high reward, if you are new, I suggest you to use Godfrey since he's very cheap, and because he only has 1 active skill, the other one easy hero to master is Diao Chan, and you get her for free.

           Now, let's learn the basic movement, as flanker you won't be spotted by your enemy, so always make a late move to start your movement, and always observe your map. As flanker you need to stay away from your main team, but be careful to not being spotted by the enemy, since you move alone, here's why Yu Ji is the best hero to this job, because she can go invisible, wait until the fight happen and flank your enemy as they are not expected that you are come from their back. The other way to flank the enemy is by sticking behind your main team, and try to round the enemy when the fight happen, look at picture bellow. This move is good if you are using hero who don't have invisible skill, and this method is safer than the other oen, since you are moving with your ally.

        As flanker, you need to keep an eye to enemy cavalry and enemy archer, that's why, you need to check your map more often, since you are weak against those two type of enemy. Always observe the map, so you will know where is your enemy is. In this case, Diao Chan is shining, you have shield to protect you from enemy arrow, and Diao Chan have narrow formation to trap enemy horse inside your  unit, to do this, you need to active 6th skill (Turtle formation) the moment before enemy horse hitting your unit, it's a bit tricky but if you manage to do it, you can trap the whole enemy horses and kill them easily, and don't forget to un-use your 6th skill when the enemy trapped.

        You can kill enemy archer if he is alone without someone near him, that's your job too as flanker, but if enemy decided to protect their archer, don't force your unit to attack him, or you will waste your unit, be patient wait until he is alone, or go back to join your main team.

        Summary, flanker is high risk high reward role, you need to learn when to strike and where to fight, if you are too fast, you will get destroyed by enemy since you are alone, and if too late, your team are already losing the fight when you come, and you will die immediately.

        S : Yu Ji, Diao Chan

        A : Hua Mulan, Godfrey

        B : Qin Qiong, Baldwin I, Hanzo

        C : Harald

        D : Spartacus

        As you see S tier are hard to use and because Yu JI have low HP compared to other hero, if you are not sure, you can use Mulan or Godfrey to begin with, and see you again in my next post 😉👌
