How to become a pro "emperor" tank!!

Ok, last post, I'm talking about hero combination in rank, but this time I'll show you basic strategy about movement with certain hero. In this post I will focusing on "tank" role, or you can called it shield hero. 💪💪

First, tank is the most important role in the battlefield, you can't win the game without it. Tank main objective is to absorb as many damage as they can to cover ally in the backline. As tank, means you are the leader, you are the one who decide where to move, and when to fight, usually your team will follow you wherever you go. There are 6 tank right now, it is Alexander, Caesar, Lagertha, Leonidas, Ling Tong, Richard I. If you are new with this role, I recommend you to use Caesar, because he is the easiest one, and Richard I is the hardest one. But remember, some hero only good in certain map, while the other is good in any map. Here the explanation :

  • Alexander and Lagertha is good for narrow place, because their weakness is when they are getting attack from the flank, they are very vulnerable in that situation, so only play them in the map with narrow place, never use them on open field. Usually city map is the right place for them, because it's hard for enemy to flank your unit.
  • The other tank are good in any map.
As tank, you need to avoid "stacking battle", this happen when you're in blob fight, but there's already ally unit in front of you, look for the picture in the bottom, you need to avoid the 1st picture, because your unit will be useless, they can't attack the enemy until your ally unit lost the fight, instead, you can flank the enemy like in the 2nd picture. Unless you are using Alexander, never flank the enemy, you can fight behind your ally, since your unit have phalanx, which have longer range than other weapon. But as tank, if you can, you need to be the first hero to fight the enemy because your main job is in the frontline.

Now you need to know what situation or where is the best place to fight, and manipulate the enemy to fight in your advantage, because you are the leader. Here is the rule :
  1. Know your team composition and where to fight. first if you have cavalry, always fight and force the enemy to go to open field, so your ally horse can join you when battle started. Second if you have archer, always fight in the place your archer can shoot the enemy, archer hero will tend to find the high ground place or I called it archer tower, protect them, fight bellow ally archer tower, in this case your archer can easily headshot the enemy.
  2. Always check the map before engage. Avoid outnumbered battle, like 4 vs 5, or even 1 vs 5 (yolo). To do that, check your map, you can see where is your team and where is your enemy position (as far as the enemy being spotted by you or your teammate). If you are being outnumbered, lure them by doing backward movement, wait until all of your teammate ready for battle. Most importantly if you have "flanker" hero in your team, make sure they are ready in their position to flank the enemy before you initiate the battle.
  3. Be patient. The other way to win the game is by gaining point, to do that you need to capture point (A, B, C) or hold the flag. Don't rush whenever you see the enemy, remember rule number 1 and 2. If you already have 2 point, example A, B while the enemy only capture C, lure the enemy to your position, and find the best place for your team to fight. If they don't come, they will lose because you have A and B, if they come, you already find the best place, so you have advantage.
  4. Never fight bellow enemy archer tower. This is the opposite from rule number 2, if you do that, enemy archer will melt your unit easily, and you lose the battle and game over.
  5. Don't be afraid to tell your teammate. As tank, I'm usually tell them to "follow me", or "fight near our archer", simple command right?

Tips for hero who have throwing weapon like Caesar and Leonidas, always use your throwing weapon first before activating your 4th skill (Spear Throw), in this way, you hero can throw 4 spear instead of 2. Because this skill reset your spear throw ammo, not increase your current ammo.

Honorable mention Richard I. Like I said, this is the hardest hero among the other tank, but potentially the best tank if you play him right. His "Taunt" skill is so powerful, but only effect enemy 10 meter in front of your unit, and make them vulnerable to get flank. To do that, simple, position yourself behind your unit, click F2 and move your unit near enemy and force your unit to shield up (3rd skill), when you think it's close enough, use your "Taunt" skill, and press F4, so your unit will move backward, dragging your enemy to your position. It will break the enemy formation, and make them to be easier target for your flanker like Godfrey or Mulan. Richard I is hard counter for Alexander and Lagertha, when Alexander use phalanx formation, you taunt his unit, drag them to you and your team will do the rest of job destroying Alexander Unit and their formation. So if you think Alexander is hard to fight with, use Richard I and learn the "dragging move".

That's all for today, next I will tell you the art of flanking, so stay tuned!! 😎👍
